Metis Maison has completed the full bespoke lighting installation for the Sheraton Shaoxing Yukun, a Marriott International property in Shaoxing, Zhejiang. The commission encompassed over 1,200 individual fixtures across the grand lobby, ballroom, all-day dining, Chinese restaurant, corridor systems, and 280 guestrooms — every piece designed, engineered, and manufactured in our 3,800 sqm workshop in Guzhen, Zhongshan.

Grand Lobby: A Chandelier Engineered for Scale
The centrepiece of the Sheraton Shaoxing commission is the grand lobby chandelier — a multi-tier bronze structure spanning over six metres in diameter. At that scale, "decorative lighting" and "structural engineering" become the same discipline. Our team produced a full SolidWorks 3D model, a load-path analysis signed off by a registered engineer, and a pre-hang test in our workshop using the actual suspension cables and mounting hardware that would travel to site.
This is where our 13 years of hospitality experience paid off. A chandelier of this size cannot be "adjusted on site" — the balance, the electrical routing, and the ceiling load must be resolved before the first component leaves Guzhen. We delivered the fixture in four pre-assembled sections, each one fully lit and photographed before it was crated.
Ballroom & F&B: Lighting That Sets the Mood
The ballroom required a system of twelve large-scale pendants, dimmable to 1% for banquet presentations and fully bright for conference setups. Each pendant uses a hand-rubbed bronze body — the same five-stage patination process we documented in our craft article — paired with hand-blown glass diffusers. The Chinese restaurant features wall sconces and table lamps in a custom aged-brass finish tuned to match the interior designer's material palette.

With 280 guestrooms, the challenge shifts from single-piece artistry to production consistency. Every reading lamp, bedside sconce, and corridor light had to match a golden master approved at sampling.
